India's $1 Million Boost to UNESCO World Heritage Centre

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a $1 million contribution to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre for capacity building, technical assistance, and conservation efforts. The announcement, made at the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, highlights India's commitment to global heritage preservation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that India will contribute USD 1 million to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. This funding will be directed towards capacity building, technical assistance, and the conservation of world heritage sites globally.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC), Modi emphasized India's sense of responsibility towards global heritage preservation. He highlighted India's cooperation in conserving heritage sites in the Global South, including notable sites in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

In addition to the financial contribution, Modi revealed plans for a new certificate program in World Heritage Management for young professionals in India. He also spoke about the global impact of yoga and ayurveda as the scientific heritage of India, tying these efforts to the G-20 Summit theme, 'One World, One Family, One Future,' and India's vision of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.'
