Box Office Renaissance: The Resurgence of Cinemas
The resurgence of cinemas is evident with the success of diverse movies like ''Kalki 2898 AD'', ''Bad Newz'', and ''Deadpool & Wolverine''. Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR INOX Pictures, reflects on the fluctuating first quarters but highlights promising revenue figures and anticipates a strong lineup of future releases.
The resurgence of cinemas is clearly evident as diverse movies like ''Kalki 2898 AD'', ''Bad Newz'', ''Raayan'', and ''Deadpool & Wolverine'' draw audiences back to theaters, according to Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR INOX Pictures Limited.
The first quarter of 2024 experienced a slowdown, partly due to scheduling conflicts with the Lok Sabha elections, IPL, and T20 World Cup. ''However, the momentum has picked up significantly with big hits like ''Kalki 2898 AD,'' Gianchandani told PTI.
Revenue figures support this rebound; Q2 of 2023-24 saw an increase to Rs 2,024 crore from Rs 1,330 crore in Q1. ''With upcoming releases from both Bollywood and Hollywood, we expect continuous growth,'' said Gianchandani, highlighting the industry's optimistic outlook.
