Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Friday labeled the landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, as a 'terrible tragedy' of unprecedented magnitude, demanding a unique and urgent response. The Congress MP vowed to raise the matter in Delhi and with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Gandhi highlighted the immediate priorities: finding bodies and potential survivors, ensuring the displaced are comfortable in camps, and planning their rehabilitation. He stressed the importance of relocating survivors to safe areas, as they do not wish to return to the landslide-hit zones.

He pledged that the Congress party will construct over 100 houses in Wayanad to aid those affected. Gandhi further committed to raising the issue with both union and state governments via a post on social media platform X, emphasizing the need for a swift and comprehensive action plan.
