Shubanshu's father, Shambhu Dayal Shukla, a retired government officer, shared that the family is filled with pride rather than nerves. His mother, Asha Shukla, described her youngest son as 'cool-minded,' able to handle situations without losing his temper.

Announced by ISRO on Friday, the selection of Group Captains Shubhanshu Shukla and Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair for the mission marks a major milestone in the Indo-US space collaboration. Shubhanshu has been recommended as the primary astronaut, with Nair serving as his backup, under the recommendation of NASA-identified service provider Axiom Space Inc.
