Himachal Pradesh's first chief minister, Yashwant Singh Parmar, led an inspirational life, laying a strong foundation for the state's overall development, said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at a programme marking Parmar's 118th birth anniversary. Sukhu described Parmar, the founder of Himachal Pradesh, as a visionary leader who was ahead of his time and dedicated his life to the welfare of Himachal and its people.
'It was the dream of Dr Parmar to see Himachal progressing in all fields,' said Sukhu. 'Due to Dr Parmar's continuous efforts, Himachal gained its identity as a hill state with a rich and distinct culture, tradition, and language,' added the Chief Minister.
'Dr Parmar is revered as a preserver and promoter of Himachal's culture and environment. He placed significant importance on the preservation of forests and wildlife, and it was his roadmap that aimed at making Himachal a green state,' Sukhu noted.
