Shock in Chhattisgarh: Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Commits Suicide

A 40-year-old man in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat before committing suicide by hanging. The couple's children and the man's elderly mother were sleeping in another room. The man had a history of mental ailment and had attempted suicide before.

A tragic incident unfolded in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district as a 40-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before committing suicide, according to police reports on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Kudumkela-Nawadih village under the jurisdiction of the Gharghoda police station late Monday night, an official stated.

The man, identified as Panchram Manjhi, reportedly slit his wife Dharamkumari's throat with a sharp weapon while she slept before hanging himself. His elderly mother, aged 76, and the couple’s young children, aged five and two, were in another room during the incident, the official revealed. The mother informed the police on Monday morning.

Authorities disclosed that Manjhi had suffered from a mental ailment for three years and had previously attempted suicide by jumping into a well.
