Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar has observed a notable surge in the popularity of short films on the Internet, declaring that these films have evolved beyond being mere appetizers to feature-length movies. Sircar will judge the short films segment at the 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), which commences on August 15.
Having previously attended the festival with his films like “Pink”, “Piku” and “Sardar Udham Singh”, Sircar admits jury duty is equally challenging. The short films segment, titled “All Our Voices,” reflects the high-quality craftsmanship and significant consumption of these films on social media.
Mitu Bhowmick Lange, festival director of IFFM and Sircar’s friend, has excelled in organizing this gala, attracting top Indian talents. Besides his judging role, Sircar looks forward to presenting “The Umesh Chronicles”, produced by him and Ronnie Lahiri and directed by Pooja Kaul. The festival, reuniting Sircar with industry friends, will conclude on August 25.
