A festive spirit reigns in Kashmir ahead of Independence Day, with several 'Tiranga' rallies organized and the tricolour fluttering proudly from key buildings.

The rallies are part of the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, officials said. One such rally was carried out by the Central Reserve Police Force along Dal Lake on Wednesday morning.

This event, organized by the Srinagar Sector CRPF, started from the SKICC and ended at Ghat No 13 on Boulevard Road. The 3km Tiranga walkathon saw enthusiastic participation from CRPF members, including female personnel.

The march was led by IG Srinagar Sector CRPF Ajay Kumar Yadav. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) also organized a Tiranga bike rally in Batamaloo area.

Rallies took place in Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Shopian districts. Historical sites like the Martand Sun Temple in Anantnag district were illuminated with tricolour lights, officials reported.

Security has been heightened across the Kashmir valley to guarantee incident-free celebrations, with a multi-tier security setup at the main event venue, presided over by J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
