Five individuals, including two doctors and Matthew Perry's personal assistant, have been charged in what prosecutors described as a “broad underground criminal network” that led to the 'Friends' star's death. The doctors exploited Perry’s addiction struggles, supplying him with dangerous levels of ketamine.

US Attorney Martin Estrada stated that these physicians knowingly put Perry at grave risk, with one doctor even mocking the actor in texts. Perry died in October from a ketamine overdose, enabled by several injections from his personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who initially discovered Perry's body.

Authorities highlighted that Perry sought legitimate ketamine treatments for depression, but as those sources dwindled, he turned to illicit channels. Dr. Salvador Plasencia, charged with multiple counts of ketamine distribution, and Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen,” are among those arrested. Both pleaded not guilty, facing severe potential sentences. Investigations revealed attempts to cover up their involvement posthumously.
