Rishab Shetty Triumphs at 70th National Film Awards with 'Kantara'

Actor Rishab Shetty celebrated his win for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 70th National Film Awards for his directorial film 'Kantara'. Shetty expressed his excitement, attributing his success to his team, including the production house, DOP, and technicians, stating, 'I am just the face of the film, it is all because of their hard work.'

Shetty also expressed gratitude towards his fans and the people of Karnataka, dedicating his win to them. 'Kantara', set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, follows Shetty's character, a Kambala champion facing off with a Forest Range officer. The film also won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, the film stars Shetty in a dual role and was released on September 30, 2022. The 70th National Film Awards, which honor the year's best cinematic achievements, were announced Friday in the national capital.

Other notable awards included Best Feature Film for Malayalam film 'Aattam', Best Non-Feature Film for 'Ayena (Mirror)', and Best Documentary for 'Murmurs Of The Jungle'. The event, overseen by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, also awarded Kishore Kumar: The Ultimate Biography by Anirudha Bhattacharjee & Parthiv Dhar as the Best Book on Cinema.
