In a powerful demonstration in Delhi, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj and JNU Vice-Chancellor Santishree D Pandit joined hundreds of women in a silent march to protest against alleged atrocities committed against minorities in Bangladesh. The protest was organized by the RSS-linked Nari Shakti Forum, and it drew attention to the increasing violence faced by Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh.
The march, which began from Mandi House and culminated at Jantar Mantar, saw participants carrying religious flags and placards, demanding an end to violence against minorities. The demonstrators tied black bands on their arms, symbolizing their fight for human rights for all communities. Suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma was also among those participating.
Speakers at the event, including protesters like Dimple who cycled from Udaipur, emphasized that the issue transcends religious lines and is fundamentally about human rights. In addition, Shreyosi Sinha Basu, a Nari Shakti Forum member, highlighted the need for urgent interventions to safeguard these communities amidst growing tensions in Bangladesh. Traffic in the Lutyens' area was disrupted due to the march, with severe congestion noted in several key areas.
