Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a landmark visit to Brunei's historic Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque on Tuesday. The mosque, constructed by the father of the current Sultan, is an architectural marvel completed in 1958.
Modi was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Ustaz Awang Badaruddin, and Minister of Health Mohammad Isham. During his visit, Modi watched a video illustrating the mosque's rich history. Approximately 14,000 members of the Indian community in Brunei also turned out to greet the Prime Minister.
This visit marks Modi as the first Indian Prime Minister to make a bilateral visit to Brunei. Brunei remains a critical partner in India's 'Act East' Policy and Indo-Pacific Vision, with both countries sharing a long history rooted in culture and tradition.
