Harvard University Press is marking the tenth anniversary of the Murty Classical Library of India with the release of 'Ten Indian Classics' on October 18.
This landmark anthology, introduced by poet and translator Ranjit Hoskote, assembles some of the most iconic literary works from the Indian subcontinent, spanning from the sixth century BC to the eighteenth century.
The collection showcases original translations by leading experts of literary traditions such as Hindi, Kannada, Pali, Panjabi, Persian, Sanskrit, Telugu, and Urdu. Among the highlights are ancient women's writings, Sanskrit court poems, Sikh sacred verses, the chronicle of Mughal emperor Akbar, and Tulsidas's epic Ramayana.
