Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Steals Spotlight During Mumbai's Ganeshotsav

A 23-foot-tall eco-friendly Ganesh idol, crafted from used flowers and tissue papers, is capturing attention during Mumbai's Ganeshotsav. Installed by Bal Gopal Mitra Mandal, the idol aims to promote environmental sustainability and cybercrime awareness. The mandal, known for its unique idols, emphasizes social messages through creative designs.

In the vibrant celebrations of Mumbai's Ganeshotsav, a towering 23-foot eco-friendly Ganesh idol is drawing significant crowds. Made from used flowers and tissue papers, this unique creation underscores a commitment to environmental care.

Installed by the Bal Gopal Mitra Mandal in Vile Parle, the idol is notably carried by four ‘mushaks’ or mice. Sunil Mayekar, a committee member, highlighted their 17-year tradition of introducing eco-friendly Ganpati idols, emphasizing the detrimental impact of idol immersion on ponds and lakes.

Dubbed ‘Mumbaicha Peshwa’, this year's idol also addresses the pressing issue of cybercrime, aiming to educate the public through associated theatrical plays. Sculptors Digambar Mayekar and Rajesh Digambar Mayekar brought this vision to life, merging artistic creativity with social responsibility.
