India and Iran are on the brink of bolstering their tourism cooperation through a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU). Aliasghar Shalbafian, Iran's Deputy of Tourism, highlighted the deep historical ties between the nations and the mutual benefits of enhanced tourism during an interview at the Iran Tourism Roadshow.
In efforts to ease travel, Iran has already unilaterally waived visas for Indian tourists. The number of Indian tourists visiting Iran surged by 39% in the first four months of the year. Both countries are also working towards establishing more direct flights to facilitate easier travel.
The MoU aims to promote tourism, share cultural heritage, and boost people-to-people connections. With high expectations, the final signing is anticipated within six months. This collaborative effort stands to significantly impact the tourism sectors of both countries.
