Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday engaged in bilateral discussions with his Brazilian, Spanish, and Saudi Arabian counterparts to foster enhanced cooperation in the tourism sector and strengthen people-to-people ties.
These high-level meetings were held on the sidelines of the G20 Tourism Ministerial Conference in Brazil, the current chair of the influential international forum.
Taking to social media platform X, Shekhawat expressed his satisfaction with the productive meeting with Brazil, emphasizing joint cooperation agreements, visa facilitation, and direct air connectivity as pivotal topics of discussion.
The minister underscored the economic and cultural benefits of these initiatives, aiming to boost tourism and foster deeper bilateral connections. Shekhawat also acknowledged the collaborative efforts by Brazil and other G20 nations in advancing the tourism agenda.
He reiterated India's commitment to green tourism and lauded the role of tourism in driving both economic growth and social inclusion, while promoting environmental sustainability. At the G20 event, Shekhawat participated in dialogues organized by the UN Forum and WTTC.
In separate meetings with Spain's Tourism Minister Jordi Hereu i Boher and Czech Republic's Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Barto, discussions centered on direct connectivity, tourism trade fairs, eco-friendly travel, and greater tourist interactions. Shekhawat also met with ministers from Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and the USA, discussing various aspects of sustainable tourism and bilateral cooperation.
