An 18th-century diamond necklace, potentially linked to former French queen consort Marie Antoinette, is set to be auctioned in November. The piece is estimated to fetch up to $2.8 million.

The 300-carat jewel, composed of three rows of diamonds with tassels, made its first public appearance in 50 years at Sotheby's London showrooms. Andres White Correal, Chairman and Head of the Royal and Noble Sales at Sotheby’s for Europe and the Middle East, highlighted the rarity and historical significance of the intact necklace.

The necklace, which belonged to the Marquesses of Anglesey, has been part of notable historical events including the coronations of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. It will be featured in Sotheby's 'Royal & Noble Jewels' sale in Geneva on Nov. 11.
