Karnataka Commemorates Gandhi's Leadership with Statewide Walk
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced a statewide 'Gandhi Walk' on October 2 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's leadership in the freedom struggle. The government will also hold a legislature session in Belagavi in December. Participants will wear white to honor Gandhi's philosophy.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has announced plans for a statewide 'Gandhi Walk' to mark the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's leadership in the freedom struggle. The event will take place on October 2 across various parts of the state.
The 'Gandhi Jyothi Padayatra' will start from the Gandhi statue on MG Road to Bharat Jodo Bhavan, KPCC office on Queens Road in Bengaluru at 11 am. Similar events are expected to happen in other parts of Karnataka. Shivakumar stated that all Congress MLAs are required to participate in their respective constituencies.
In addition to the Gandhi Walk, a joint legislature session will be held in Belagavi in December, following the same format as the Congress 'Maha Adhiveshana' held 100 years ago. A special committee, including former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily, has been appointed to plan the anniversary celebrations.
