JMM Advocates for Sarna Code Amidst Women's Empowerment Drive

JMM legislator Kalpana Soren criticized the Centre for inaction on the Sarna religious code for tribals while lauding the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana (JMMSY), which financially empowers women. Soren highlighted the ongoing struggle for tribal rights and emphasized women's vital societal roles.

JMM legislator Kalpana Soren took a firm stance on Tuesday against the Centre's alleged inaction concerning the Sarna religious code for tribals, assuring that the struggle to achieve this right will continue.

Speaking in Lohardaga, Soren also acknowledged the significant financial empowerment provided by the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana (JMMSY), where funds totaling Rs 497 crore were transferred directly to the accounts of about 50 lakh women, emphasizing their contributions to society.

The event, which coincided with the Navratri festival, included interactions with the beneficiaries through video conferencing and witnessed the presence of political figures like Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji and others, celebrating both women's empowerment and the cultural recognition of tribals.
