India's nationalist movement will be in the spotlight during the 20th 'IIC Experience: A Festival of the Arts', announced on Wednesday. This annual festival, beginning October 18, will employ the theme 'Kalpavriksha: The Nationalist Movement – Freedom and Identity' to explore vital aspects of India's history and cultural renaissance.
The festival promises a diverse lineup of activities featuring dance, music, films, and world cuisine. Among the highlights are the exhibition 'Manuscripts and the Movement of Ideas across Asia', a keynote by historian Sugata Bose, and performances by Odissi choreographer Sharmila Biswas and classical dancer Navtej Singh Johar.
A fascinating blend of arts, from a Dhrupad recital by Ustad F Wasifuddin Dagar to comedy film screenings and discussions on cinema and nationalism, will be paired with expansive culinary offerings such as Kashmiri Wazwan and New Orleans street food. The festival will conclude on October 22 with thought-provoking discussions and a publication release.
