Mahant Satyendra Das, the esteemed chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi, has passed away at 85 years of age. According to hospital sources, he breathed his last on Wednesday.

Das was receiving care at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences after suffering a brain stroke earlier this month. His health had been critical since his admission.

A pivotal figure, Das served as the head priest since his twenties and held the position during significant events, including the controversial 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.
