In a significant development for the Tamil film industry, Actor Nassar, president of Nadigar Sangam, expressed appreciation for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. The government renewed a pivotal land lease agreement for cinema unions, originally allocated in 2010 by former CM M Karunanidhi.
Nassar highlighted that the 90 acres of land was initially set aside for industry growth but fallen into lapse due to governmental and organizational changes. The renewed lease is expected to benefit over 35,000 workers directly and their families, totaling around one lakh individuals. The plans include constructing studios, public amenities, and an educational institution.
The gratitude of the entire Tamil film community is evident. Representatives from key associations, including the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) and Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, met with Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin to express their thanks. The government order facilitating this renewal signifies a substantial Rs150 crore market value and prospects of development.
