Nearly 18,500 inmates in Chhattisgarh participated in a 'holy bath' on Tuesday, using water from the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, an area currently hosting the Maha Kumbh. This event, organized across 33 prisons, aimed to offer spiritual cleansing and mental well-being for the prisoners.

The bath was conducted in designated 'kunds' set up across five central, 20 district, and eight sub-jails. Durg, Bilaspur, Surguja, and Kabirdham jails saw these 'snan kunds' ornately decorated with flowers as inmates conducted prayers before participating in the religious ritual.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, overseeing the Home department, facilitated the transport of the sacred water to these facilities. Inmates expressed their gratitude and joy for this unique spiritual opportunity, which was viewed as a step toward their mental peace, spiritual growth, and potential societal reintegration.
