Veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar recently shared the intriguing backstory of his son Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut, 'Dil Chahta Hai'. At a press conference for 'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar', Akhtar recounted an incident when Aamir was on a break from listening to film scripts.
Farhan approached Aamir on set, striking him with curiosity, especially because Farhan hadn't asked his father to intervene despite their close ties with Aamir. Intrigued by Farhan's independence and determination, Aamir soon agreed to listen to the narration and was impressed enough to sign on.
'Dil Chahta Hai', now considered an iconic film, went on to cement Farhan Akhtar's status in Bollywood. It was a coming-of-age drama featuring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, and Saif Ali Khan, and marked the beginning of a new era in Hindi cinema. Javed Akhtar fondly recalls his prediction of Aamir's stardom, tracing it back to a chance observation of a young Aamir at a film set.
