Better Call Saul Season 5 was first announced at Television Critics’ Association (TCA) in August 2018 ahead of the premiere of Season 4. Since then, fans of the crime drama television series are eagerly looking forward to knowing the progress in the production.

Better Call Saul Season 5, for the fans who’re not aware, is currently having a filming date. It will commence filming in Albuquerque in New Mexico on April 10, 2019. Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn and the remaining actors are set to come back to Albuquerque this year to start working in the production. Good news is that the series has already been renewed for a fifth season at Netflix and AMC.

According to Cartermatt, the fifth season of Breaking Bad’s spin-off sequel is already in the works, mainly from a writing point of view. Since the upcoming season will start filming in April unlike previous season which commenced filming in the winter, the release date is likely to be pushed back for a couple of months. Even the source noted that it is not at all surprising to see the crime drama series taking long hiatus between seasons as there was always roughly a year gap between seasons.

Better Call Saul Season 5 is said to be having 10 episodes. The series’ co-creator, Peter Gould revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that the series would explore the transition from Jimmy into Saul Goodman.

“It seems like Jimmy’s first move is to try to leverage all the contacts he has in the world of selling drop phones. But don’t forget, he also knows the vet (Caldera, played by Joe DeRosa), and the vet is sort of Craig’s List for the underworld in Albuquerque. So he can get quite far. The question is: how does he establish a reputation as not just a criminal lawyer but a criminal lawyer? And what does that mean to him at this point? Because situations may require him to do things and turn a blind eye to things that Jimmy McGill would not be able to stomach,” Peter Gould said.

While also discussing how Jimmy’s story will end, Gould said that he hoped to complete the story in a very satisfying way. “My dream would be that this is somewhere in the same universe of satisfaction as Breaking Bad was. I was so proud to be part of the way we ended Breaking Bad, and that was actually one of the fears of doing this show — that we would tarnish that. Having said that, I think we are closer to the end than to the beginning,” Gould added.

According to some sources, Better Call Saul Season 5 is likely to be released in August 2019, but there is no guarantee.
