In a move to bolster its global tourism profile, Telangana will host the Miss World pageant next May, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced. The event aims to highlight Telangana's cultural allure to an international audience.
Addressing the state assembly during the debate on the voting for Demands for Grants for 2025-26, Rao emphasized the pageant's potential to transform Telangana's image worldwide. Despite frequent visits to the UK for tourism promotion, Rao noted a lack of awareness about Telangana globally.
To further entice international visitors, the government plans to build a major international convention center in Hyderabad, similar to Mumbai's Jio World Centre, and introduce a festive 'Hyderabad Carnival'. The Miss World event is expected to draw representatives from up to 140 countries and attract significant media coverage.
