In response to public backlash, Mukesh Ambani's conglomerate, Reliance, has retracted its trademark application for 'Operation Sindoor,' a codename tied to India's recent military actions against Pakistan. The application was filed without authorization by a junior employee at Jio Studios.

The phrase 'Operation Sindoor' became widely recognized following military strikes reportedly targeting 'terrorist infrastructure' in Pakistan. These strikes followed an attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals in Indian Kashmir. Sindoor, a vermilion powder symbolizing marriage in Hindu culture, referenced the widows created by the attack.

Social media users expressed outrage, accusing the company of trivializing a serious matter. Prominent figures, including spokespersons from India's opposition Congress party, criticized the move, questioning Reliance's intentions in commercializing a symbol of national bravery. The controversy highlights the tension between business interests and respect for national sentiment.
