In a groundbreaking achievement, Andhra Pradesh established 23 global records, including two Guinness World Records, during the 11th International Yoga Day, as declared by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The state became a focal point for yoga enthusiasts with over 3.03 lakh participants setting a new world record for a single location event.
The celebration, which emphasized the health benefits of yoga, saw active participation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and was marked by the extraordinary performance of 22,122 tribal students executing 108 Surya Namaskars for 108 minutes. This feat contributed notably to the historic proceedings held at Andhra University.
Globally recognized, the yoga festivity involved participants from 170 countries and was conducted in 1.3 lakh venues across Andhra Pradesh. With a focus on continual promotion, the state government plans to release a coffee table book and video, showcasing the significance of yoga. Furthermore, a Visakhapatnam Declaration on Yoga Day will encourage daily practice among the populace.
