Karnataka's Green Reclamation: A Victory for Forest Land

The Karnataka government reclaimed 120 acres of encroached forest land in the Kadugodi plantation, valued at Rs 4,000 crore. The Karnataka government successfully reclaimed 120 acres of encroached forest land in the Kadugodi plantation, valued at an estimated Rs 4,000 crore, officials reported on Monday.

Under tight security, a team led by the Bengaluru Urban Forest Department used heavy machinery to remove encroachments. Forest, Environment and Ecology Minister Eshwar Khandre issued the directive, emphasizing the urgent need to protect Bengaluru's dwindling green spaces as the city rapidly expands.

In total, 248 acres with an estimated market value exceeding Rs 8,000 crore have been restored since Khandre assumed office, representing a significant stride in safeguarding the city's environmental future.
