Devotees Flock to Baba Chamliyal Shrine Mela amidst Tight Security

Nearly 30,000 devotees attended the annual mela at Baba Chamliyal Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, a site traditionally symbolizing Indo-Pakistan harmony. The event proceeded peacefully under heightened security, despite no Pakistani delegation's presence since 2018. BSF, local administration, and volunteers ensured its success.

An estimated 30,000 devotees convened at the Baba Chamliyal Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir for the annual mela, officials reported.

Historically, the shrine has been a symbol of harmony between India and Pakistan, though a diplomatic hiatus has persisted since 2018 following the death of four BSF personnel in border skirmishes.

Security was intensified as visitors thronged the venerable 322-year-old shrine, with the BSF's Alkesh Kumar Sinha inaugurating the event by offering a chadar. District officials, shrine committee members, and volunteers played crucial roles in organizing the mela's peaceful proceedings.
