In a thrilling announcement for music and social advocacy lovers, Shakira and The Weeknd have been confirmed as the headliners for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival. Joining them are Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist, as announced by the international advocacy organization. The festival is set for September 27 at Central Park's Great Lawn and will be hosted by Global Citizen ambassador Hugh Jackman. Attendees can expect more star-studded additions in the coming weeks.

This lineup continues the festival's legacy of attracting world-renowned artists after last year's event featured stars like Post Malone and Doja Cat. Expressing excitement about her role, Shakira stated, "I'm honoured to headline the incredible Global Citizen Festival in Central Park this September. Music has always been my way of connecting with people and leaving a mark on the world. I can't wait to perform, unite, and inspire action."

The 2025 Global Citizen Festival will advocate against global inequities as the United States reevaluates its international support role. The campaign aims to provide energy access to 1 million Africans, facilitate quality education for 30,000 children globally, and share soccer opportunities with assistance from FIFA. Additionally, the event aims to raise USD 200 million to protect the Amazon rainforest and register 40,000 New Yorkers for citywide volunteer efforts. Free tickets are available through active participation via the Global Citizen app or website.
