In a significant move, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has removed Dr. Karamjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, from a committee responsible for setting service norms for the Akal Takht jathedar.
The decision was made after a controversial video emerged, showing Dr. Singh in conversation with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, where his remarks were considered offensive by Sikhs.
SGPC Secretary Partap Singh elaborated, stating that the Sikh community raised objections to Dr. Singh's views, prompting SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami to take decisive action.
