In a significant gesture of remembrance, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday led a tree-planting ceremony at Silver Oak Park in Jangpura, paying tribute to the late Sushma Swaraj, India's first woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
Joined by Swaraj's daughter, Bansuri Swaraj, and other BJP officials, Gupta accentuated Swaraj's longstanding contribution to Indian politics and society and reflected on her personal mentorship. Describing Swaraj as a beacon of guidance, Gupta noted her relentless focus on public welfare during her tenure.
To perpetuate her legacy, a total of 501 saplings were planted as part of the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" initiative, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to honor influential figures by nurturing the environment.
