Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed joy over the feature, highlighting Similipal's rich biodiversity. He commended photographer Prasenjeet Yadav for his dedication to capturing the story of the rare big cats. Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik echoed these sentiments, underscoring the pride of Odisha with this recognition.

Found exclusively at Similipal, the melanistic tigers are a result of genetic mutation leading to their striking appearance. The state, in January 2024, announced the establishment of the world’s first Melanistic Tiger Safari to further showcase these majestic creatures.
