Kurgaon has been officially declared the most beautiful village in Maharashtra's Palghar district, securing a significant cash prize of Rs 50 lakh. The announcement was made on Sunday by local officials.
The beautification awards are part of the R R Patil Beautiful Village Award Scheme, enacted by the state's rural development department for the 2023-24 financial year. Out of eight competing villages, Kurgaon stood out for its exceptional attributes.
The awards ceremony took place during the 'Employment Fair and Service Fortnight,' part of the chief minister's 150-day action plan. Forest Minister Ganesh Naik praised the initiative for fostering positive competition and promoting sustainable practices among village communities.
