Uproar in Kerala Assembly Over Sabarimala Gold Plating Row

In Kerala's Assembly, the opposition UDF disrupted proceedings demanding the resignation of Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan due to a controversy involving the gold plating of idols in Sabarimala Temple. Tensions escalated as allegations of mishandling and missing gold surfaced, alongside demands for a CBI investigation.

The Kerala Assembly saw intense disruptions on Monday as members of the opposition Congress-led UDF demanded the resignation of Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan. The demand arose from a controversy over the gold plating at the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa Temple.

Leader of the Opposition, V D Satheesan, highlighted allegations against the Left-controlled Travancore Devaswom Board. He insisted on Vasavan's resignation and raised concerns over being previously blocked from discussing the issue.

When the Speaker disregarded these concerns, chaos ensued with opposition members storming the well, holding banners, and raising slogans. This action led to an intense session culminating in the Speaker suspending proceedings amidst calls for a CBI probe.
