Historic Prayer: President Murmu Visits Sabarimala

President Droupadi Murmu becomes the first woman head of state to visit the Lord Ayyappa shrine at Sabarimala for prayers. She will travel in a convoy, marking her second day of a four-day official visit to Kerala. Her itinerary includes several significant events and unveilings.

In a significant visit, President Droupadi Murmu is set to offer prayers at Kerala's renowned Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala on Wednesday. This marks the first time a female head of state has visited the sacred shrine. Murmu is only the second president to make this pilgrimage, following in the footsteps of former President V V Giri in the 1970s.

Traveling in a convoy organized by the Kerala Police, President Murmu will make her way from Pamba to Sannidhanam using the Swami Ayyappan Road. Her journey is facilitated with four-wheel-drive vehicles and an accompanying ambulance. The President's itinerary includes her arrival at Pamba by road from the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium after flying there by helicopter earlier in the morning.

President Murmu's visit to Kerala, which began on Tuesday evening, is packed with various engagements, including unveiling the bust of former President K R Narayanan at Raj Bhavan and inaugurating the Mahasamadhi Centenary celebrations of Sree Narayana Guru. She will also join in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of St Thomas College in Kottayam and the centenary celebrations of St Teresa's College in Ernakulam, concluding her official visit on October 24.
