Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla on Tuesday revealed that engineers at ISRO are closely analyzing his experiences from the Axiom-4 mission to the International Space Station to aid in the planning of India's pioneering human spaceflight, Gaganyaan.
Having made history as the first Indian astronaut aboard the ISS, Shukla announced that formal training for the Gaganyaan mission is on the horizon. He highlighted that four astronauts have been selected and trained for the mission, set to launch in 2027, where the indigenously developed LVM-3 rocket will place at least two astronauts in orbit.
Shukla, transitioning from IAF pilot to astronaut, explained that ISRO engineers are meticulously identifying discrepancies between the Gaganyaan project and other human spaceflights to address any gaps. Emphasizing the mission's complexity, he noted the rigorous process of revisiting systems and philosophies to ensure success.
