On Monday, police filed a case against the organizers of a music concert featuring Malayalam singer Hanan Shaah after overcrowding led to chaos and discomfort. The event, held at a ground near the private bus stand as part of an expo on Sunday night, saw 16 spectators hospitalized due to breathing difficulties and dizziness.
Authorities intervened to stop the concert and forcibly dispersed attendees after several refused to leave. The organizers—Shahzaman Thottan, Nawalu Rahiman, Haris Aboobeckar, Khalid ED, and Jubair, among others—face charges for violating police instructions limiting attendance to 3,000 people, whereas tickets were allegedly sold to over 10,000 concert-goers.
The case, registered at Kasaragod Police Station under multiple sections, accuses the organizers of endangering public safety and unlawful assembly. Police have summoned them for interrogation, with further legal action anticipated.
