The Goa Church has expressed strong disapproval of an event called 'Tales of Kamasutra and Christmas Celebrations,' which was planned to take place in the coastal state next month. The church criticized the event's advertisement on social media for irresponsibly linking a sacred celebration with inappropriate themes.
In response to the uproar, Goa police canceled the four-day event, advertised by the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation. The decision followed a formal complaint lodged by the NGO Anyay Rahit Zindagi (ARZ), prompting police intervention to prevent the event's occurrence.
Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao of Goa and Daman emphasized the offense caused by relating Christmas, a holy occasion for Christians, with unrelated themes. He called for the withdrawal of the content and urged respect for religious beliefs in future communications, appealing for mutual understanding and respect across all communities.
