During the convocation ceremony of the National Defence Academy's 149th Course, UPSC Chairperson Dr Ajay Kumar urged graduating cadets to adopt the role of 'scholar-warriors,' merging intellect and valour amid an evolving security landscape. He highlighted modern conflicts' reliance on ideas and moral conviction, accentuating the importance of wisdom and empathy for leadership.
Dr Kumar's speech celebrated the cadets as bearers of India's secular ethos, commending their inheritance of a legacy rooted in courage and service. He emphasized the transformative power of a clear vision, citing India's Balakot response as an example of strategic precision and disciplined execution without escalation.
Asserting the indispensability of constant readiness, whether tactical or moral, Dr Kumar encouraged cadets to lead by example and uphold integrity.
