A Constitution-Driven Union: Love, Blood Donation, and Breaking Traditions

A couple in Odisha's Berhampur celebrated their marriage by pledging on the Indian Constitution and donating blood. Preetipanna Mishra and B Bhanu Teja inspired guests to join their blood donation drive. The Humanist Rationalist Organisation supported the event, aiming to promote marriages free of caste, horoscope, and dowry considerations.

In an inspiring display of commitment to social values, a couple in Odisha's Berhampur solemnized their marriage by taking an oath on the Indian Constitution and donating blood. Their unique wedding ceremony sought to inspire others and break away from traditional norms.

Preetipanna Mishra, a system analyst from Berhampur, and B Bhanu Teja, a scientist from Kakinada, met at a seminar in Hyderabad. On their wedding day, they urged guests to join their blood donation drive, collecting 18 units.

The Humanist Rationalist Organisation, supporting the marriage, aims to promote unions that eschew caste, horoscope, and dowry. At least five similar marriages have taken place in Berhampur in the past five years, reflecting a shift in societal norms.
