The government of India is pioneering the integration of cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence and augmented reality in the realm of cultural heritage. As stated by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Parliament, these technologies are being harnessed to digitize museums and enhance cultural dissemination.
The Minister highlighted that digital advancements such as AR-VR, digital kiosks, and software like 'JATAN' are revolutionizing museum experiences. These technologies are part of broader initiatives under the National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities and other projects aimed at improving visitor engagement.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) receives substantial support for its work in archaeological excavation and conservation, particularly in the renowned site of Nalanda. The ASI's efforts not only contribute to the preservation of heritage but also bolster tourism and local employment. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education pursues the documentation of India's endangered languages.
