Reviving Ancient Heritage: Sharda Calligraphy Exhibition at Jammu's Kala Kendra

Jammu's distinguished Kala Kendra became the venue for a landmark Sharda calligraphy painting exhibition over the weekend. The three-day event focused on raising awareness about the ancient Kashmiri script, Sharda, intertwined with themes of consciousness and Kashmir Shaivism.
At the opening ceremony, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo announced a diploma course in Sharda calligraphy, reflecting the region's commitment to preserving its historical scripts and artistic identities. The exhibition featured 50 creations by noted artist Subash C. Razdan, showcased at the G R Santosh gallery.
Dulloo praised Kala Kendra's role in supporting local arts and linked the initiative to the Gyan Bharatam Scheme, aimed at protecting cultural legacies. Added collaboration between the J-K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the University of Kashmir promises further promotion of calligraphy in Sharda and other scripts.
