Bollywood filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari, have been taken into police custody for seven days by a Udaipur court in relation to a significant fraud case exceeding Rs 30 crore.

The arrest was made by a police team from Mumbai on December 7 and followed an FIR lodged by Dr. Ajay Murdia on November 17, accusing the couple and others of fraud.

Authorities claim that Bhatt and his wife falsely promised lucrative film projects and produced fake bills to misappropriate funds. The couple is set to appear in court again on December 16.
