A leopard sighting at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur prompted a swift response from authorities on Tuesday. A search operation was immediately launched after the wild animal was spotted on the educational campus, causing a flurry of concern among students and staff.
Forest officials, alert to the situation, discovered the leopard cub near a hostel building, successfully capturing it by setting up a net. The cub was then tranquilized for safety, according to Dr. Arvind Mathur, Wildlife Conservator. Once stabilized, the animal was relocated to the Aamagarh forest area.
This marks an alarming trend of increased leopard activity in Jaipur's residential areas, with more than five recent sightings in populated localities. Earlier CCTV footage showed the leopard traversing walls and gardens in nearby Anita Colony and AG Colony, underscoring the wildlife's encroachment into human habitats.
