Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat are poised to make a notable visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where they will preside over the unveiling of a statue dedicated to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The high-profile visit is already stirring increased security measures, with possible traffic restrictions anticipated.

During his stay, RSS chief Bhagwat, on his inaugural visit to the archipelago as 'sarsanghchalak', is expected to engage with organization workers. This marks a significant return since his previous visit nearly twenty years ago. Amit Shah, familiar with the location from his January 2023 visit, will join Bhagwat for this commemorative event.

The highlight of their visit will be the statue's unveiling at Beodnabad, South Andaman, accompanied by a song dedicated to Savarkar. Organized by a Maharashtra-based business group, the events commemorate the 116th anniversary of Savarkar's iconic poem 'Sagara Pran Talamala'. This visit signifies not only a celebration of history but also a reinforcement of cultural heritage and political ties.
