Esteemed Odia journalist Dulal Mishra passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday in a state-run hospital, according to his family. Known for his longstanding contributions to journalism, Mishra covered the 1971 India-Pakistan war for a Cuttack-based daily.

Mishra, who was battling age-related illnesses, hailed from a Bengali family and leaves behind two sons. His wife had passed away in 2024, prior to his death. Renowned in the field, he served as the editor of 'Dinalipi' in Bhubaneswar and 'Aji Kaili' in Balasore.

Additionally, Mishra was pivotal in launching around a dozen small newspapers throughout Odisha, marking a significant influence on regional journalism.
