Farewell to a Legendary Sculptor: Ram V Sutar's Legacy Lives On

Renowned sculptor Ram V Sutar, famed for his creation of the Statue of Unity, passed away at 100. Revered as a Padma Bhushan awardee, he is remembered for his iconic sculptures, including those of Mahatma Gandhi. Tributes poured in from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to the esteemed sculptor Ram V Sutar, noting his death as an 'irreparable loss to the art world'. Adityanath honored Sutar's legacy, particularly highlighting his creation of the Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also expressed his condolences, recognizing Sutar's achievements, including his Padma awards, and his contributions to Indian art.

Born in Dhule district, Sutar, a gold medallist from JJ School of Art, left behind a rich legacy, having sculpted notable figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji. His contributions, particularly the Statue of Unity, stand as a testament to his extraordinary talent.
