Tragic Altitude Sickness Claims Life of Tourist in North Sikkim
A 47-year-old tourist from Kolkata died in North Sikkim, suspected to be due to altitude sickness. The woman faced severe symptoms after visiting high-altitude locations, leading to her demise at a military hospital. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the unnatural death case.

A tragic incident unfolded in North Sikkim, where a 47-year-old woman from Kolkata, on vacation with her family, lost her life due to suspected high-altitude sickness. The woman had been experiencing shortness of breath and vomiting after reaching Lachung.
Despite her symptoms, she proceeded to visit Zero Point, sitting at a height of 15,300 feet, on Thursday for sightseeing. Unfortunately, her condition worsened overnight.
At around 2 am, she was rushed to the Lachung Army Field Hospital, where she was declared deceased upon arrival. An investigation into her unnatural death is currently underway by local authorities.
